Recognised sponsor
When recognised as a sponsor by the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND), Dutch businesses can hire highly skilled migrants more efficiently. Recognised sponsors enjoy fast-tracked application procedures and are trusted partners of the Dutch government.
Required Documents
The kinds of documents to be provided to the IND depend on business maturity. Generally, businesses must provide annual accounts and financial statements. Newer companies may be required to include a comprehensive business plan and market analysis.
Recognised sponsors enjoy the following benefits:
Shorter decision periods for permit applications.
A permanent contact person at the IND.
Fewer document submissions for residence permit applications.
Access to the IND Business Portal for online applications.
Obligations of Recognised Sponsors
Recognised sponsors must inform the IND of any changes affecting their employees' residence permits within four weeks. They must also keep detailed records of all highly skilled migrants for at least 5 years and ensure compliance with all employment and immigration regulations. Failure to comply can lead to suspension or withdrawal of recognition, withdrawal of residence permits, fines, or criminal charges.
Becoming a Recognised Sponsor
Businesses in the Netherlands can apply to become recognised sponsors based on their maturity:
Under 3 Years - Companies must present a business plan and undergo a detailed assessment by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), which evaluates their stability and solvency. This process can take up to 6 months.
Over 3 Years - Established businesses can become recognised sponsors without an RVO assessment, provided they meet conditions such as being registered with the Chamber of Commerce and maintaining financial stability.
Alternative Solutions
Businesses can also hire highly skilled migrants through payrolling firms like BlueStone. These firms act as legal employers and handle sponsorship and HR tasks, allowing companies to focus on their core activities.
